Description A new quarterly meeting will be hosted by Blue Line Extension staff starting on August 23 to provide regular project updates to keep communities groups and individuals along the Blue Line Extension route informed. Topics will include project status, schedule, anti-displacement efforts, impacts, and decision-making opportunities coming up and will include a facilitated discussion with attendees. Materials and project updates will be available for the whole route but will be focused on Minneapolis.

Description: Partnering within the Robbinsdale area school district, the artist will engage youth in various art projects throughout the summertime and into the school year within the BLRT corridor. This 3-part initiative will paint a mural with Sandburg Middle School, host youth arts activities at Becker Park and Lakeview Terrace Park; and concluding with building a mosaic at Robbinsdale Middle School. The overall theme will map out destinations within the BLRT corridor.
Dis Place Ment Home

Description: "Dis Place Ment Home" will ask the community to share their stories of home documenting their answers in an art installation at the Capri Theater. The questions explored in the project are “what has home, business, neighborhood, community meant for you over the years?” “How have you stayed rooted in your community?” “How has displacement impacted you, your community, and what would you need to survive and thrive through light rail construction and beyond?”
AMA Project Resonance

Description: Project Resonance is a collaboration between African American and Asian American artists in North Minneapolis to jointly use Asian Fusion, Hip Hop Dances, to create diverse music/dance pieces to reflect COVID-19 impacts on BIPOC communities; as well as building on Pan Asian cultural pride to combat the Anti-Asian hate; then presenting the Dance Drama “Resonance” during the FLOW Festival, to tie together the potential recovery effort with creative economy along the Metro Blue Line LRT extension station areas.

Dancing is a fun and exciting way to get some cardio and strength training exercises into a person's lifestyle. It also creates a safe space for people to network, make new friends and share BLRT information.

Multiple routes are also being considered between Target Field and West Broadway.

Ward 5 Blue Line Extension Community Discussion

Description: A community conversation event on Monday, October 30, hosted by Minneapolis Ward 5 City Councilmember Jeremiah Ellison provides an opportunity for the community to hear more about the Blue Line Extension’s 21st Avenue route segment, share their perspectives, and ask questions. Project staff will provide a brief project overview. Councilmember Ellison will then facilitate a discussion followed by breakout group conversations on topics such as community, businesses, anti-displacement, and route design.
Workforce and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Meet and Greet

Description: Project staff are inviting Workforce and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) organizations to a mixer on Tuesday, October 31 with Metropolitan Council and Hennepin County to hear project updates and how the project is changing its approach to DBE and Workforce Planning. This is a continuation of a similar event we held earlier this summer.
