Light Rail would be used if available
by Olso0916, about 3 years agoI'm a resident of Crystal, and there's a huge need here for reliable public transportation. It's difficult to get to and from the downtown, as well as the airport. With the connections this light rail would potentially provide, My family would benefit greatly. This would be a major benefit, and a cost savings for many, especially the working poor in our neighborhoods.
My Story~

My work requires that I fly out of MSP quite a bit, and right now I'm paying about $80 per trip in Uber fees, or about the same amount in parking down in Bloomington.
The savings for me would be quite substantial, and I imagine I'm not the only one. My neighbors also travel for work out of MSP.

Rail is the way of the future. I visited China in 2008, and they had an advanced system, with concrete rail ties, overhead cables, and fast moving trains. However, it's possible to carve this type of system into our infrastructure, we would benefit greatly.
Thank you for your contribution!

Climate Change - Moving away from Fossil Fuel
by PMKoenig, about 4 years agoMy hope for this project is fair, equitable, affordable and reliable transportation for all to move towards better caring for our environment. Converting to electric power coupled with mass transportation can have a very significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions. At the same time, a very affordable means of transportation for daily commuting for work can be readily available to all.
Coupled with Bikes available and bus connectors, wide spread transportation accross our area is possible, without significant individual investment in automobiles. I look forward to using this leg and the others in the near future.

The time is only getting better to use these types of alternatives to gain freedom from oil, and the threat of resulting environmental harm, and continued price increases and wild cycling.
